EAT FRUITS IN EMPTY STOMACH

Many people complaint about burps, bloats, irritable bowel syndrome etc after eating fruits in full or partially filled stomach. We feel that fruits are doing something wrong with stomach. But usually don’t feel these problems while taking fresh fruit juice. I was quite surprised with this attitude of fruits. After certain analyses i found the following reasons could be considered. Awaiting my readers’ valuable opinion.

EAT FRUITS ONLY IN EMPTY STOMACH

FRUITS BEFORE FOOD A new study reveals that fruits will be absorbed very quickly in intestine if taken in empty stomach. The fibers get absorbed into the body easily. But if we consume fruits after food, most of the fiber fail to reach intestine and get blocked in stomach itself. High acidic content may destroy some of the fibrous content and vitamins before absorption itself. So its always better to take fruits before food.

Certain researches show that graying hair , balding , nervous outburst , and dark circles under the eyes are considerably less when fruits are taken in empty stomach.

Change the proverb: AN APPLE A DAY KEEP THE DOCTOR AWAY to AN APPLE A DAY BEFORE FOOD KEEP THE DOCTOR AWAY.

SOME POINTS TO REMEMBER WHILE FRUIT INTAKE
  • *Confirm with your Pharmacist about any possible drug fruit interaction, if you are taking any drugs. For example: Terfenadine have interaction with Grape fruit or grape juice.
  • *Always drink only fresh juice.
  • *Never take boiled fruits.
  • *Avoid canned fruit juices.
  • *Eat a full fruit better than a juice of the same.
  • *Eat more fibrous fruits, as fibers will help to reduce cholesterol.
  • *Check the top and bottom portion of fruits where there is a chance of insects to grow.
  • *Wash the outer portion of fruits before eating it. Many fruit sellers apply chemicals to get the fruit ripe earlier than normal time.
  • *Avoid fruits that labeled with stickers.These stickers contain harmful chemicals that may lead to diseases such as stomach ulcers.
  • *Avoid citrus fruits for those persons who have diseases like peptic ulcers.  ( Eg: Orange)
  • *Avoid pineapple for those who are pregnant and those who are willing to become pregnant.
  • *Certain plantains may raise allergic reactions to some people and avoid such fruits for a second time.
  • *Plantains and banana have a property of absorbing and storing residues of certain pesticides like Furadan (Carbofuran 5%), DDT, BHC etc. Take care to take such fruits only from known sources.
