EGG STORAGE –HEALTHY TIPS

In this post, we would like to give some tips on storage of eggs and egg related products. This is very essential for everyone to know about this. In order to avoid food poisoning, you must take special care with handling and preparing fresh eggs and all other egg products to avoid food poisoning. Readers may please express any of their opinion regarding this tips so that we can include it in our next post.

WHITE EGG STORAGE

Raw eggs in shell, store in refrigerator for up to 3 to 5 weeks. Never freeze raw eggs. Instead, beat yolks and whites together; and then freeze.

Raw egg whites you can store in refrigerator for 2 to 4 days and can keep in freezer up to 12 months

Raw egg yolks, can be kept in refrigerator in 2 to 4 days and it is better to avoid freezing Yolks.

Raw egg if accidentally frozen in shell, then use immediately after thawing.If kept frozen; then refrigerate to thaw.

Hard-cooked eggs can be refrigerated for one week and never  freeze.

ORGANIC FOOD SCAM

Organic foods can be defined as conventionally farmed and prepared foods that doesn't contain any artificial chemical compounds. In certain instances, the presence of such artificial chemical compounds are allowed but well controlled below certain levels. The process of preparing Organic foods are highly regulated in different countries. These Organic foods are produced in Organic farms that do not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers that may harm soil, water or local terrestrial and aquatic wildlife.

Dangerous Organic Food Scam:

It is very difficult to identify Organic Natural Food with other foods, especially when we buy from super markets. Many companies sell adulterated food items in a premium price by selling it as Organic Foods. The customers endanger their health by purchasing such items. Some organic farms tend to mix regular items with their organic products to label and sell as Organic Natural Foods.

But, making fake labels is quite easy for marketing people. Hence a survey showed that 65% of total Organic Foods sold through different markets in the world are Fake.

Regulatory authorities fail to take necessary action to prevent this due to many reasons. It is difficult to identify organic foods from market from other general foods. Batch labeling was another technique used to prevent Organic Food Scams. But this was not much effective because of wide spread marketing of organic foods. Any one can mix Organic Vegetables with fake labels at any time.

Several laboratory tests are there to find the traces of fertilizers, pesticides like BHC, DDT in foods. But this is effective only when the test is done directly from markets. Even though some cases have been filed against culprits behind such adulteration, still many people tend to do it again.

How to overcome Organic Food Scam?

Try to find an Organic farm near to your living place. Visit there frequently and ensure that they strictly adhere to policies of Organic Farming. Always buy foods and vegetables directly from there.

Avoid supermarkets to buy Organic Foods.

If you feel that the Organic Food you buy is not having necessary qualities, then give a complaint in legal format to your supreme authority in this subject of  your country. Lets join together to  act in a harsh and  hectic way to resist any sort of Organic Food Scams.

INOSITOL FOODS PREVENT CANCER?

Inositol is emerging as an anti cancer supplement with its multiple properties of inhibiting the cancer by making the cancer cells behave and grow more like normal cells. The anti-oxidant property of Inositol also making it as favorite among cancer preventive foods. May be later we can hear another proverb like this, ‘Eat one gram of Inositol  a day keep the doctor away’. Inositol or its phosphates and associated lipids are found in many foods. Let’s check about Inositol and its benefits in a little more detail.

What is Inositol ?

Inositol or cyclohexane-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexol is widely occurring, natural carbohydrate, but not classified as a classical sugar. It is almost tasteless, with a small amount of sweetness. The most prominent form of Inositol is cis-1,2,3,5-trans-4,6-cyclohexanehexol, or myo-inositol. Myo-Inositol was classified as a member of the vitamin B complex

Which foods are good source of Inositol ?

Whole grain cereals, such as rice, oats, wheat and corn, as well as legumes, which contain a natural anticancer agent known as IP-6 (inositol hexaphosphate). IP-6 combined with inositol helps  to prevent the growth of new tumors and shrink existing tumors.

It is present in cereals with high bran content, nuts, cantaloupe melons and oranges.

What are the possible benefits of Inositol supplement foods

Inositol and lung cancer

– Researches are going on in several universities about the potential chemo preventive effect of inositol. The potential chemo preventive effect of myo-inositol was estimated by repeat autofluorescence, bronchoscopy and biopsy. The maximum tolerated dose was found to be 18 grams per day. The side effects were negligible.

The anti-oxidant property of Inositol is very helpful in preventing cancer. Antioxidant property of inositol could be the result of its' quenching action on reactive oxygen, intermediates and conjugate-formation with compounds like arachidonic acid and the antiglycating property due to scavenging of glucose.

Inositol and  Central Nervous System

- Inositol is a simple polyol precursor in a second messenger system important in the brain. Inositol is helpful in reducing anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Panic disorders

Inositol and Blood Pressure

- Several studies show that  significant reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressures by an average of 10 mm Hg was observed after taking 18 g/d of myo-inositol for a month or more.

Inositol and polycystic ovary syndrome

– Inositol have proven clinical evidences in improving ovarian function in women with oligomenorrhea and polycystic ovaries.

Inositol and impotence

- Myoinositol and folic acid combination helps in preventing and treating erectile dysfunction in diabetic men, as  a result of its acute antioxidant properties, and nitric oxide protective beneficial effects.
