DANGER IN REUSING COOKING OIL

Many kitchens often see reusing of the cooking oil. It was believed that there was no danger in reusing cooked oil especially vegetable oils. But recent researches have found out that reusing cooked, or boiled vegetable oils again to cook will create big hazard to life.

image A recent study found that a toxin called 4-hydroxy-trans-2-nonenal (HNE) forms when such oils as canola, corn, soybean and sunflower oils are reheated. Consumption of foods containing HNE from cooking oils has been associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease, stroke, Parkinson'?s disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, various liver disorders, and cancer.

Once absorbed in the body, HNE reacts with DNA, RNA and proteins affecting basic cellular processes. HNE is a well known, highly toxic compound that is easily absorbed from the diet,is highly reactive with proteins, nucleic acids--DNA and RNA. HNE is formed from the oxidation of linoleic acid, and reports have related it to several diseases, including atherosclerosis, stroke, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Huntington's and liver diseases.

MORE DANGER SEEN IN FRYING WITH CERTAIN VEGETABLE OILS

Certain researches pointed out that the quantity of HNE is higher in deep fried foods like SNACKS that fried in cooking oils like canola, corn, soya bean and sunflower oils. There is a scientific explanation about this. When fruits or vegetable pieces are boiled inside the oil to get fried, then the oil molecules that penetrated into the fried foods and get converted into similar molecules like that of HNE. While getting cooled to room temperature, this molecule will convert into toxin HNE, which will ultimately lead to risks of cardiovascular disease, stroke, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, various liver disorders, and cancer.

It was believed that soybean, sunflower and corn oils are good to health but this study proves that there is still some dangers behind.

CONCLUSION:

  • NEVER REUSE COOKED/BOILED OIL
  • REDUCE THE USE OF DEEP FRIED ITEMS IN VEGETABLE OILS

DANGER SNACKS –PACKED POTATO CHIPS CONTAIN OLESTRA

Now a days different brands of packed potato chips are available in market, all over the world. These potato snacks are available in the market in different flavors, style and attractive packing. Celebrities are paid in tons to participate in the advertisements of such  packed foods. Citizens of most countries, of all ages, are addicted to these packed potato chips. In this post I would like to open up some of those facts behind packed potatoes.

OLESTRA – NEW THREAT?

Most of the fried pack foods are preparing by frying it with artificial fat called Olestra. Olestra is a fat substitute that adds no fat, calories, or cholesterol to products. It has been used in the preparation of traditionally high-fat foods such as potato chips, thereby lowering or eliminating their fat content. The main portion of olestra is sucrose esterified by 8 fatty acids which are bound to the OH-Groups of the sugar. Like ordinary fats (3 fatty acids are bound to glycerol) it belongs to the class of esters.

Olestra rapidly depletes blood levels of many valuable fat-soluble substances, including carotenoids. Olestra is able to dissolve lipid-soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K along with carotenoids which are partially removed from foods. This process is a big threat to children in their growing stage.

Olestra causes gastrointestinal disturbances, which are sometimes severe, including diarrhea, fecal urgency, and more frequent and looser bowel movements.

Olestra sometimes causes underwear staining associated with "anal leakage”

Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools. Olestra inhibits the absorption of some vitamins and other nutrients.

WATERMELON AS NATURAL VIAGRA

Watermelon is now a days considered as wonder fruit that have multiple benefits on regular intake. Watermelon which is a rich source of antioxidants such as Lycopene, Betacarotene, phytonutrients such as Citralin, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B1, Vitamin A, Potassium, Iron and fibers.

More than 90% of watermelon contain water and rest is rich of fibers.

Watermelon as natural Viagra:

Untitled Major phytonutrient in watermelon is Citrullin, when watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted to arginine through certain enzymes. Arginine is an amino acid that works wonders on the heart and circulation system and maintains a good immune system. This process increases the quantity of Nitric Oxide in blood vessels which will ultimately dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow. Sildenafil (Brand Name: Viagra) also act in the body similarly by increasing the quantity of Nitric Oxide. Citrullin thus increases the quantity of Arginine and thereby finding good natural solution for erectile dysfunction.

Citrullin is found more in the white flesh of watermelon right inside its outer hard shell.Hence a fully ripe watermelon can give good results.

The major advantage is that, the quantity of Citrullin that converted into Arginine is controlled by body itself and the level of Nitric Oxide produced inside body will be regulated according to the requirement. This process have another good aspect that, regular intake of watermelon will not precipitate reactions and risk as in case of Sildenafil or similar medicines. Disadvantage is that, watermelon cannot produce immediate relief to erectile dysfunction because of its indirect pathway of action in increasing blood flow.

SAFETY OF H1N1 VACCINE

Vaccination is the best way to prevent from getting infected from H1N1. H1N1 Vaccine stimulates an immune response that uses the body’s own defence mechanism to prevent infection. H1N1 Vaccine is made specially for Influenza A virus ( H1N1 Virus ). There are two types of H1N1 Vaccine.

!. Flushot : This type of vaccine contains inactivated (killed) virus, which is administered through intramuscularly.

2. Nasal Spray: This is administered through nose in the form of spray and also called as Live Attenuated Influenza Virus ( LAIV )

SAFETY OF H1N1 VACCINE :

H1N1 Vaccine have similar safety profiles of seasonal flu vaccine. The most common side effects following the vaccinations are negligible, such as soreness, redness, tenderness or sometimes swelling in the injection area.. While receiving as nasal spray , sometimes it causes slight burning sensation, which will be over after few minutes.

Side Effects of H1N1 vaccine:

1. Rarely people might have headache, muscle aches, fever, and nausea or feel tired after vaccination

2. H1N1 Vaccines can cause allergic reactions to person who has a severe (life-threatening) allergy to eggs or to anything else in the vaccine

3. Most common side effects after H1n1 vaccination are  sore and tender and/or red and swollen where vaccine was given.

SAFETY OF H1N1 VACCINE IN PREGNANT WOMEN :

H1N1 Vaccine have similar safety profiles of seasonal flu vaccine. Seasonal Flu Vaccines which are given to number of pregnant women for years with extreme safety. Hence we can consider H1N1 vaccination as safe to pregnant women.

SAFETY OF H1N1 VACCINE IN CHILDREN :

H1N1 Vaccine is considered to be very safe in  children.During clinical trials, 10,000 to 15,000 children and adults have received various manufacturers' brands of H1N1 swine flu vaccine. There is no serious side effects  reported so far.

SAFETY OF THIOMERSAL IN H1N1 VACCINE

Thiomersal is a mercury based preservative that has been used in multi dose vials of most of the vaccines available in market. This compound act as a preservative which will prevent the growth of microorganism in vaccines. Use of thiomersal not have any direct impact on growth of children.

SAFETY OF SQUALENE IN H1N1 VACCINE

Squalene is an ingredient of some vaccines to enhance immune responses which has been used in seasonal flu vaccine for a long term without any reported unsafe incidents. Squalene is naturally occurring substance found in plants , animals, and humans.

POSSIBILITY OF GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME (GBS)

GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME  is an immune damage syndrome which leads to muscle weakness and paralysis. But H1n1 vaccine have no proven cases of GBS

CAUTION WHILE TAKING H1N1 VACCINE

  • Never take this vaccine, if you are allergic to EGG.
  • Never take this vaccine if you are allergic to thiomersal.
  • Never take this vaccine if you are allergic to any vaccine before.
  • H1N1 vaccine doesn't provide immunity against other viruses causing respiratory tract infections.
